Endre Koronczi to Represent Hungary at 2026 Venice Biennale with 'Pneuma Cosmic'
Endre Koronczi has been selected to represent Hungary at the 61st Venice Biennale, happening from May 9 to November 22, 2026. His project, titled 'Pneuma Cosmic,' will be showcased in the Giardini pavilion. This exhibition explores the dynamics of air movement—an essential yet invisible force—drawing from years of research on wind, breath, and cosmic flows. Koronczi’s installation incorporates parts from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' ventilation system, reflecting 200 years of scientific progress. A video montage featuring sighs collected over nearly fifteen years from various individuals will also be included. His work connects with his ongoing project 'Ploubuter Park,' inspired by floating plastic bags. Working with curator Luca Cserhalmi, Koronczi's exhibit resonates with the Biennale's theme 'In Minor Keys' by Koyo Kouoh, encouraging viewers to breathe. Having participated in every Biennale since 1993, he views it as the leading event in contemporary art. Versace supports the presentation through ArtReview.
