Emmanuel Saulnier's MOMENT GREC Project in Athens

other · 2026-04-24

French artist Emmanuel Saulnier, leading his studio at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, continues his global investigation into contemporary sculpture with the project MOMENT GREC. After Istanbul, Valparaiso, and Tokyo, the project now focuses on Athens. It began with a symposium at the Palais de Tokyo on December 11, 2013, organized by the Fondation Giacometti. A conference will be held at the Institut de France d'Athènes on May 14, 2014, at 8 PM. The project includes a study trip to Greece in September 2014, with meetings with Greek artists, filmmakers, and writers. Collaborators include Fabrice Vannier, an artist specializing in mosaic at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, and Anastassia Makridou-Bretonneau, a curator and public commissions manager for the Fondation de France. From September 15 to 30, about twenty young artists from Saulnier's studio will travel across Greece. They will gather on the island of Aegina from September 25 to 30 at the Folklore Museum to present their research and works. On September 28 and 29, they will open the museum day and night with a large installation and a public meeting. In 2015, the studio will publish a significant book on the MOMENT GREC theme, with contributions from French and Greek authors. The event and publication are under the auspices of the Institut Français d'Athènes.
