Emmanuel Lagarrigue's Morse-Carved Oak Beams at Galerie Sultana
Emmanuel Lagarrigue's showcase, "Le crépuscule du matin (dans ce jour qui est presque nuit)," runs from October 18 to December 20, 2012, at Galerie Sultana, paying tribute to Hélène Bessette's "Le Bonheur de la nuit." The installation incorporates oak beams, some positioned at a 45-degree angle, each etched with Morse code interpretations of Bessette's words. The atmosphere is enhanced by dim neon lights and two concealed light installations: one transmitting Morse for "Il y a toujours un autre" and the other blinking "Ils parlaient tous, seuls." The concluding work, titled "An hysterical attempt," features bricks crafted from wood shavings. Lagarrigue had previously explored Morse in "WH," inspired by Beckett's "Cap au pire." The gallery is situated at 12 rue des Arquebusiers, 75003 Paris.
