Emma Lavigne appointed co-curator for 2017 Lyon Biennale
Emma Lavigne will co-curate the 2017 Lyon Biennale, invited by Thierry Raspail, the event's founder and artistic director. This edition represents the second installment in Raspail's thematic trilogy centered on the concept of 'moderne,' following Ralf Rugoff's 2015 presentation titled 'La vie moderne.' Lavigne currently serves as director of Centre Pompidou-Metz. Her previous roles include curator at Paris Cité de la Musique from 2000 to 2008, where she developed interdisciplinary programming and exhibitions linking music, sound, and contemporary art. In 2008, she became curator of contemporary art at Centre Pompidou in Paris, organizing significant exhibitions such as 'Elles@centrepompidou,' 'Danser sa vie,' and the 2015 Pierre Huyghe retrospective. She also curated the French pavilion at the 2015 Venice Biennale with artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot. An art historian by training, Lavigne brings extensive experience in cross-disciplinary curation to the Lyon Biennale.
