Emily Kam Kngwarray exhibition to tour five Australian galleries from 2027

An exhibition showcasing the works of Emily Kam Kngwarray (c.1910–1996) will be on tour across five galleries in Australia, commencing at the Araluen Arts Centre in Mparntwe/Alice Springs on 9 April 2027. This initiative, backed by First Nations Arts Partner Wesfarmers Arts, brings the Anmatyerr artist's creations back to the Central Desert, close to her homeland in Urapuntja/Utopia. Following the opening, the exhibition will be displayed at Cairns Art Gallery (Qld), Art Gallery of Western Australia (WA), Newcastle Art Gallery (NSW), and Burnie Arts Centre (Tas). Kngwarray is celebrated for her impactful contributions to 20th-century art, characterized by her vibrant visual style and profound connection to Country.
