Emilio Prini retrospective at Fondazione Merz, Turin
Fondazione Merz in Turin presents the first posthumous retrospective of Emilio Prini (1943–2016), a key but reclusive figure of Arte Povera. Curated by Beatrice Merz and Timotea Prini, the exhibition brings together forty works from 1966 to 2016, many never shown together. Prini, who joined the Arte Povera group at age 21, was known for his rigorous, subtractive approach and extreme research across photography, writing, visual poetry, and sound. The show includes seminal pieces like 'Perimetro misura a studio stanza' (1967) and 'Standard' (1969), as well as later self-portraits and the series 'Fermacarte' (1995). Works by Mario and Marisa Merz are also included to contextualize Prini's personal relationships. The exhibition runs until February 9, 2020.
