Emilio Nasser opens K! photo space in Turin with community-based legend project

The collective Kublaiklan has inaugurated K!, a new photography research and production space in Turin's San Salvario district, near Porta Nuova station. The space focuses on relational photography through collaborative projects, residencies, talks, workshops, and exhibitions, and includes a library of collaborative photobooks. The inaugural exhibition features Argentine artist Emilio Nasser (born 1980, based in Switzerland) with "La Cornuda de Tlacotalpan," a project reviving a nearly extinct legend from Tlacotalpan, Mexico. Nasser worked with the local community to transcribe, draw, and perform the story of the horned creature that drags victims into the Papaloapan River, using mud masks he created. The exhibition presents photographs, transcribed notes, and wall drawings as a collective portrait. Kublaiklan also runs "L'ora di fotografia," an artistic production and visual education program in collaboration with Fondazione Alfaparf, involving residencies in secondary schools. Nasser will be followed by Hicham Benohoud, Ilaria Turba, Matteo de Mayda, and Karla Hiraldo Voleau. The exhibition runs until May 8, 2026.
