Emilio Ferro's Portal of Light Installation at Giza Pyramids
Emilio Ferro, an Italian artist, has unveiled Portal of Light, a unique light installation situated at the base of the Giza Pyramids in Egypt. This artwork features two metal parallelepipeds positioned to align with the pyramids' slope; one contains a light source that casts a beam through the second portal, reaching hundreds of meters across the terrain. Visitors can engage with the installation at night, which symbolizes the sun god Ra's nocturnal journey as illustrated in ancient papyri. During the day, sunlight filters through a 20-meter metal line on the ground. Ferro's composition includes wind sounds from the Giza Plateau. Portal of Light is part of Forever Is Now II, a collective exhibition running from October 27 to November 30, featuring 12 international artists and organized by Culturvator/Art D'Égypte in partnership with UNESCO and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
