Emilio Fantin's coma exploration at Fondazione Baruchello
Emilio Fantin (b. 1954, Bassano del Grappa) presents an exhibition at Fondazione Baruchello in Rome, continuing his Risvegli project curated by Gabi Scardi and Katherine Desjardins. The show, previously held in Turin, Chicago, Milan, and Bologna in 2021, explores states of coma through ten drawings, photographs, the film Sciamani (from a 2021 performance at MAMbo), and the video series The Light of Darkness. The latter features testimonies from coma survivors collected by Fantin at the Casa dei Risvegli of Bellaria Hospital in Bologna. Participants include Maria Pina, who sings Jovanotti's Mi fido di te; Claudio, who answers poetically; Fabrizio, who wants to drive fast to 'overtake time'; Simone, who recalls Enrica's scent; and Andrea, who lost use of his legs and reflects on time as 'odious.' The exhibition runs at Fondazione Baruchello in Rome.
