Emilija Škarnulytė Wins 2019 Future Generation Art Prize with $100,000 Award
During a ceremony held at Kyiv's Pinchuk Art Centre, Emilija Škarnulytė, an artist from Lithuania, was awarded the 2019 Future Generation Art Prize. The total prize amount is $100,000, which includes $60,000 in cash and $40,000 designated for the creation of new work. Additionally, special prizes of $10,000 each were awarded to Gabrielle Goliath from South Africa and the UK duo Cooking Sections. An international jury, featuring members such as Pablo León de la Barra from the Guggenheim Museum, Björn Geldhof from the Pinchuk Art Centre, and others, chose the winners from a pool of 21 shortlisted artists. All selected artists will exhibit collectively at Palazzo Ca’ Tron during the 2019 Venice Biennale, while Škarnulytė is set for a solo show at the Pinchuk Art Centre in 2020.
