Emiliano Ponzi's FLOWER UP installation for glo for art at Fuorisalone 2024

Emiliano Ponzi (Reggio Emilia, 1978) created FLOWER UP, an installation for glo for art, presented at Via Statuto 2 in Milan's Brera Design District from April 15 to 21, 2024, during Fuorisalone. The work features a hidden garden accessed through a tunnel with digital petals, leading to a large iron tree-sculpture with galvanized steel leaves hand-painted with acrylic spray. Ponzi collaborated with a multidisciplinary team: Cristiano Seganfreddo (FlashArt editor) curated the project; Andrea Gallo executed the sculpture; Marco Rosella in New York generated 3D video loops of petals on two parallel ten-meter monitors. The installation blends analog and digital techniques. glo for art, a BAT Italia brand, aims to democratize contemporary art and has previously donated works to public collections, such as Nico Vascellari's Falena at Triennale Milano and MAXXI Rome. Ponzi, known for computer illustrations and recent large hand-painted canvases, had a solo show In principio era la fine in three Italian cities in 2023. BAT Italia CEO Fabio de Petris stated the brand's commitment to immersive, positive art and donating works to Italian museums.
