Emilia Romagna art tour: Picasso ceramics, Chuck Close mosaic, and emerging artists
The MIC (Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche) in Faenza presents 'Picasso – La sfida della ceramica', featuring over 50 works and access to the museum's vast collection. The exhibition is curated by Harald Theil and Salvador Haro in collaboration with director Claudia Casali, in partnership with the Musée National Picasso-Paris. It includes a section of photographs and documents. The show is part of the 'Picasso Mediterranée' project. Meanwhile, Faenza-born artist Nero/Alessandro Neretti, now based in Schio, presents his site-specific ceramic works. He won the under-40 section of the Premio Faenza in 2013, promoted by MIC. Recent projects include 'Cave Canem' at Galleria Boccanera in Trento and a manifesto for Opera Viva Barriera in Milan, promoted by Flashback fair. In Ravenna, the MAR museum hosts a solo show of American painter Chuck Close until January 12, featuring a mosaic work 'Lucas Mosaic' fabricated by Mosaika Art & Design. In Rimini, Augeo Art Space at Palazzo Spina opened its season with a double solo show 'Due strade' by Lola Schnabel and Luca Giovagnoli, curated by director Matteo Sormani. The space also includes artist residencies. The article also lists dining and lodging recommendations: Relais Villa Abbondanzi in Faenza, La Buca in Cesenatico, San Domenico in Imola, Abocar Due Cucine in Rimini, and La Baita in Faenza (awarded Tre Bottiglie by Gambero Rosso 2019).
