Emilia Kabakov's open call for collective artwork in Venice

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Emilia Kabakov invites Venice residents to contribute to a monumental collective artwork through the open call 'Diario veneziano'. Participants lend a symbolic object (max 40×30×30 cm) with a short text about their connection to the city. The work will be unveiled on May 9 at Ca' Tron in Venice, curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi and Giulia Abate, on view until June 28, 2026. The project revives an installation by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov from 1993 in Ghent, now expanded into a participatory format. Two meetings with the artist are scheduled: March 7 at Bea Vita, Cannaregio 3082, and March 10 at CREA | Cantieri del Contemporaneo, Giudecca 211/A. Submissions are accepted via online form, email, or paper mail with home pickup.
