Emeka Ogboh's Sound Installation at 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London

Nigerian sound artist Emeka Ogboh presented a new audio installation at the 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London last month, created in collaboration with Modern Forms. The work was featured throughout the fair's duration. Ogboh participated in a conversation with Nick Hackworth, Creative Director at Modern Forms, as part of the 1:54 FORUM program. His practice investigates how memories and histories become encoded in sound, examining existential relationships and posing questions about immigration, globalization, and postcolonialism. Ogboh has exhibited internationally at major events including the 56th Venice Biennale in Italy (2015), documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel (2017), and Skulptur Projekte Münster (2017). He co-founded the Video Art Network Lagos and received the Prize of the Böttcherstraße in Bremen in 2016. Modern Forms, founded by British financier Hussam Otaibi, is an international contemporary art collection and editorial platform that supports artists through acquisitions, donations, and collaborations while exploring significant creative ideas.
