Emanuel Layr Opens Permanent Gallery in Rome's Trastevere

Viennese gallerist Emanuel Layr has opened a permanent gallery space in Rome's Trastevere district, moving from a temporary location in Via del Vantaggio to a permanent venue in Via dei Salumi. The new gallery, inaugurated on January 19, is situated in an area that has become a hub for contemporary art, with neighbors including Frutta Gallery (James Gardner), T293 (Marco), and Gavin Brown. Layr expressed enthusiasm for Rome's art scene, citing its less saturated, more classical approach and the city's appeal to international visitors. The inaugural exhibition, "Year of the Monkey," is a group show featuring artists from Vienna, New York, and Berlin: Juliette Blightman, Lena Henke, Benjamin Hirte, Niklas Lichti, and Matthias Noggler. Layr also maintains a gallery in Vienna's historic center.
