Ema Stokholma: From DJ Booth to Canvas

Ema Stokholma, born Morwenn Moguerou in 1983 in Romans-sur-Isère, France, is a multidisciplinary artist active in fashion, music, literature, and painting. After modeling for luxury houses and DJing in European clubs, she published her autobiography 'Per il mio bene,' which won the Premio Bancarella in 2021. Since 2016, she has painted large-format works inspired by pop art and magical realism, using freehand techniques based on her own photographs. Influenced by Edward Hopper and David Hockney, she shares her creative process in a collaboration with Polimoda's Undergraduate Fashion Styling students. Her first solo exhibition in Rome in 2021 was a formative experience, and she plans to explore unconventional tools like body painting and found objects. Stokholma emphasizes the importance of empathy and sharing personal stories to raise awareness about difficult family backgrounds.
