Elsa Olaizola's Debut Novel Explores Family Secrets and Native American Genocide
Elsa Olaizola has published her first novel, "L'héritage de Soledad", with J.-C. Lattès. The story follows Emiliano, who, on the eve of his 18th birthday, discovers his mother has lied about his identity. He embarks on a road trip across the American West with his friend Toby to uncover the truth about his birth, ultimately confronting the historical reality of the US massacre of Native Americans. Olaizola was interviewed by Nathalie Amar on RFI. The broadcast also featured a segment on South African singer Brenda Fassie, known as "Black Brenda", who was compared to Madonna and was the first black pop star in South Africa, singing in English and Zulu.
