Elogio della leggerezza: Five Artists at Kyro Art Gallery in Pietrasanta

Kyro Art Gallery in Pietrasanta presents "Elogio della leggerezza" (In Praise of Lightness), a group show inspired by Italo Calvino's thought that lightness is not superficiality but a way to glide above things. The exhibition, the gallery's last of the difficult 2020, features five artists: Giuseppe Ciracì, Marco Nizzoli, Rudy Pulcinelli, Eleonora Rossi, and Raffaele Rossi. Each artist interprets lightness through their medium. Ciracì uses pages from old art history books left exposed to the elements for ninety days, merging them with canvas and paint, with cyan dominating as a metaphor for life. Nizzoli creates collages that combine rigorous textural and chromatic research beneath apparent randomness. Eleonora Rossi employs watercolor for its ethereal, delicate quality, presenting fragmented, sometimes erotic bodies. Raffaele Rossi, an informal painter, translates sky into chromatic shreds suspended on a magmatic background. Pulcinelli uses burnt iron wire and PVC supports to form sculptural works with letters from seven alphabets, allowing light to slide smoothly. The show was curated by Isabella Battista.
