Ellie Davies's Enchanted Forests at Patricia Armocida Gallery

The Patricia Armocida Gallery in Milan presents fourteen medium- and large-format photographs by British artist Ellie Davies (born 1976, London), spanning three key series from her oeuvre. The exhibition explores the forest as a theatrical space suspended between abstraction and reality, serving as a refuge for contemplation and inner exploration. In 'Between the Trees' (2014), Davies materializes invisible forest vibrations through artificial clouds that blend with natural landscapes, creating compositions that shift in tone and light. The 'Stars' series (2014–2015) overlays luminous specks—reminiscent of fireflies or NASA nebula imagery—onto traditional forest views, achieving a particulate vibration. 'Smoke and Mirrors' (2010) directs attention to the periphery, making the background the protagonist. Davies captures suspended moments that anticipate an event, leaving the narrative open to the viewer's emotional interpretation.
