Elizabeth Roberts Joins 2026 Best of Design Awards Jury

Elizabeth Roberts, founder of Elizabeth Roberts Architects (ERA), has been announced as a juror for The Architect's Newspaper's 2026 Best of Design Awards. With nearly 30 years of experience, Roberts has built a reputation for thoughtful housing in New York, starting with historic townhome renovations and expanding to larger projects such as the Brooklyn Museum Sculpture Garden, restaurants, and retail spaces. Her firm is currently working on its first multifamily project in Brooklyn, recently completed its first hotel, and has begun work on a large performance space in Brooklyn. A significant portion of their work is now outside New York and involves new construction. Roberts holds a Master's in Historic Preservation from Columbia University, where she focused on building reuse, a principle that continues to influence her practice. She emphasizes the importance of context, the relationship between buildings and their neighbors, and the longevity and joy of her work. Roberts is particularly excited to review the Unbuilt Projects category and see how others approach adaptive reuse. The Best of Design Awards is open for submissions until September 18, 2026, at midnight ET.
