Elizabeth O'Reilly's 2013 Exhibition at George Billis Gallery Explores Light and Derelict Architecture

Elizabeth O'Reilly showcased her eighth solo exhibition at George Billis Gallery in New York City from October 22 to November 16, 2013. The exhibition featured nearly twenty paintings that delved into themes of light and abandoned buildings. Utilizing unbound oil colors with a specific viscosity, O'Reilly's brushwork conveyed both texture and form. Some pieces were inspired by dark farmhouse silhouettes in St. Mary's City, Maryland, illuminated by Chesapeake sunlight, while others from Maine exhibited brighter color tones. Additional landscapes from southern Ireland leaned towards pure abstraction. Noteworthy works included Gray House, Night (2012) and Black House and Shadow (2012).
