Elisa Sighicelli creates site-specific photo for Artribune stand at Artissima
At Artissima in Turin, artist Elisa Sighicelli has created a large-scale photographic work for the Artribune stand (P- Editorial Area), curated by Arianna Rosica. The piece, titled "Untitled (4943)," depicts two illuminated balconies covered with plastic curtains, photographed at night. The plastic acts as a screen, hiding the interior while light suggests a human presence; objects seen against the light become signs. Sighicelli, born in Turin but living away for twenty years, chose this subject because such plastic balcony coverings are a distinctive feature of the city. The image is printed on satin to enhance the plastic's sheen and the curtain's fluidity, with the fabric hung loosely to allow slight movement. The work explores the materiality of photography and the correspondence between subject and support. The stand also features the new Artribune Magazine #46. The work will be on view until November 4, 2018.
