Élisa Pône's Pyrotechnic Collages and Films at Galerie Michel Rein
Élisa Pône's exhibition 'Pour le Goût du mercure' at Galerie Michel Rein in Paris (8 September – 6 October 2012) features collages made from cut and scanned firework packaging paired with photographs of rural fires or war scenes, framed with uneven edges and a glass cut into two tilted pieces. A Super8 film made with Stéphane Thidet shows a 'roue maltaise' being ignited, linking fire's incandescence to cinema. A large wall installation holds black fuses in glasses, some slowly burning. A video trilogy explores time and distance through contrasting rhythms, including a girl smoking in a moving car, an old man walking fields (close-up of red boots), and two teenagers wandering on a scooter. Pône, also a musician, uses pyrotechnics as a raw material. The exhibition was reviewed by Anaël Pigeat.
