Elisa Caldana and Aki Nagasaka Explore Crisis and Resilience at Villa delle Rose

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The ROSE residency project's fifth edition at MAMbo in Bologna showcases "Times of Crisis," a two-artist exhibition curated by Giulia Pezzoli at Villa delle Rose. The exhibition features works from Elisa Caldana and Aki Nagasaka, who studied together in Germany and collaborated during a 2018 residency in Tokyo. Caldana's installation comprises three sealed rooms that reflect lockdown storefronts, accompanied by nearly 300 voicemail recordings regarding closures and silicone casts of street names used by the homeless. Nagasaka offers three "scenes" based on true events, such as a homeowner opposing development and a city underwater. The exhibition also includes "Fiducia nel futuro" and "Shutterstreet," featuring images from collaborations with manga artists, and extends into the streets with audio story-linked posters.
