exhibition · 2026-04-27

La Stanza di Eleonora Duse at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on San Giorgio Island in Venice has opened its doors once again after a two-year closure. This special exhibit honors Eleonora Duse (1858–1924), a legendary Italian actress known for inspiring Gabriele D'Annunzio and her significant role in 20th-century theater. The timing of the reopening is perfect, as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of her death in 2024. Organized by Maria Ida Biggi and the Istituto per il Teatro e Melodramma, there are three exhibitions focused on her remarkable life. The first, titled "Se mi dura questo entusiasmo finirò come Narciso," runs from May 13 to December 16, 2022, showcasing her connection to Venice with exclusive artifacts and photos. You can set up a visit by emailing them.
