Eleonora Danco's n-Ego, filmed with passersby, tours Italy

Eleonora Danco's second feature film, n-Ego, premiered in competition at the 42nd Torino Film Festival in November 2024, the first edition under Giulio Base's direction. The film features friendly participation from Elio Germano, Filippo Timi, and Antonio Banno', along with numerous people chosen on the street and involved in thoughts and performances. Distributed by Lo Scrittoio, it is now touring Italy and will stop in Rome on June 8 with the director present. The film adopts a tragicomic and disorienting tone, following a protagonist wearing a raincoat and a stocking over her face, inspired by Giorgio De Chirico's mannequins, as she navigates existential and emotional exploration. Shot in unconventional locations in Rome and the Lazio coast, including Sperlonga and Terracina, n-Ego reflects on self-identity, dreams, and inner struggle. Danco described the casting process as exhausting but fascinating, spending hours in neighborhoods seeking instinctive human connections, followed by multiple audition sessions. The film has garnered significant audience and critical acclaim, particularly among young viewers and on social media.
