Elenora Pertz Debut Album TERRA: A Musical Meditation on Earth and Cycles

Elenora Pertz, an Italian-American pianist, has unveiled her inaugural solo album titled TERRA, released under the Solo Musica label and distributed by Naxos Deutschland. This album serves as a musical exploration of energy, cycles, and femininity, drawing inspiration from her experiences in nature. The idea for TERRA emerged during a solo retreat on Mount Etna in Sicily in the summer of 2023, where Pertz aimed to embrace a more liberated approach to her music. The album includes compositions by Beethoven, Stravinsky, and others, alongside natural sounds and seismic recordings of Etna's 'boati' as atmospheric elements. It is structured around three themes: earth as primal principle, mother, and home, featuring highlights such as Say's 'Black Earth' and world premieres by Sheila Silver and Mary Howe. Pertz has performed at prestigious venues like the Staatsoper Berlin and founded 'Lied the Way e.V.' to connect women in the Lied community, while also teaching at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen since 2023/24. The album showcases her diverse background and her life split between Berlin and southern France.
