Elena Pugliese's Sound Art Piece in Neive Tower
Elena Pugliese (Turin, 1971), an artist with extensive experience in dramaturgy for theater, cinema, and radio, created 'Nella tua voce', a permanent sound installation in the 13th-century Civic Tower of Neive, a small village in the Langhe region of Piedmont, known for its Barbaresco wine district. The work involved over 400 residents who recorded personal messages during two days in October 2020. Visitors climb 89 steps with an audio headset to hear voices in Piedmontese dialect and other languages, transforming the tower from an empty monument into a living presence. The project was curated by Francesca Comisso and supported by Mayor Annalisa Ghella. It is part of Turris, a network of 12 fortified towers across Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato, forming a 199 km tourist route through UNESCO-listed hills.
