Elena Mazzi's First Solo Show at Ex Elettrofonica
Elena Mazzi (born 1984 in Reggio Emilia) presents her first solo exhibition at Ex Elettrofonica in Rome, titled Notes of Complexity. The work originates from physicist Bruno Giorgini's research on molecular behavior in fracture dynamics. The video A fragmented world, filmed on Mount Etna with Sara Tirelli and featuring live sounds by Giuseppe Cordaro, captures nature's overwhelming power through craters and protrusions. A running man suddenly appears, evoking humanity's confrontation with adversity and acceptance of nature beyond human will. On the floor, Fratture consists of six iron plates engraved with lava cracks from the volcano. The exhibition concludes with analytical studies by Mazzi, shown through a series of transparencies and eighteen photo-etching prints on Pescia cotton paper with lava powder.
