Elena Bellantoni's feminist video installation debuts at Dior's Spring-Summer 2024 show in Paris

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Elena Bellantoni, an Italian artist born in 1975 in Vibo Valentia, unveiled her video installation titled NOT HER during Dior's Prêt-à-porter Spring-Summer 2024 show on September 26, 2023, at the Tuileries Garden in Paris. This striking 7-meter-tall LED display contrasts sexist advertising slogans from the 1940s with feminist retorts. The installation draws from an extensive archive of over 300 images that Bellantoni has curated since 2015, including 24 new analog-style ads featuring herself alongside counter-messages. It pays tribute to the feminist artists of the 1970s and 1980s. Bellantoni worked alongside Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior's creative director. Additionally, she is set to release a book with Castelvecchi detailing her nearly two decades of artistic experience.
