Electa Acquires Abscondita, Rosanna Cappelli Named President

Mondadori-owned publisher Electa has acquired Abscondita, the Milanese publisher known for its black-covered volumes of artists' writings and art literature. Founded in 1945 in Florence by art historian Bernard Berenson, Electa began publishing monographs on art and architecture and expanded into exhibition organization, museum services, and merchandising. As of January 1, 2020, the company has been renamed Electa S.p.A., with Antonio Porro as president and Rosanna Cappelli as CEO. Cappelli also becomes president of Abscondita. An archaeologist who joined Electa in 2001, Cappelli has overseen cultural heritage management and served as director general of the Art, Exhibitions and Museums division since 2010. She has published on artistic heritage and was a member of the Mibact commission for cultural heritage valorization. Electa continues its partnerships with major museums including the Parco archeologico del Colosseo, Museo Nazionale Romano, Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, MANN in Naples, and Museo del Novecento in Milan.
