Elba's Napoleonic Bicentennial: Uffizi Diffusi and Luigi Ontani Launch Cultural Tourism
Elba Island is advocating for sustainable cultural tourism while maintaining a Covid-free environment through events commemorating the 200th anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte's death. These events are organized by Gat under the Visit Elba initiative, with the Municipality of Capoliveri at the helm. The first project of the Uffizi Diffusi program, titled 'Nel segno di Napoleone,' commenced at the Pinacoteca Foresiana in Portoferraio, displaying pieces from the Uffizi Galleries, such as a porcelain portrait of Napoleon, and will continue until October 10, 2021. Additionally, the Open Air Museum Italo Bolano is set to undergo renovations for a foundation, auditorium, and theater. Luigi Ontani's exhibit 'ElbAlbAmena' at the Museo Archeologico di Marciana, which reflects on his childhood memory of Napoleon, is available until October 31, 2021.
