El Departamento wraps Lady Pipa flagship in velvet, mirrors, and Lynchian atmosphere

architecture-design · 2026-05-01

Madrid-based architecture and design studio El Departamento has completed the Lady Pipa flagship store on Calle Lagasca in Madrid's Salamanca district. The 106 sqm retail space, titled Soirée Dreams, adopts a scenographic approach blending interior architecture with cinematic references, notably the work of David Lynch. A metallic wall-mounted telephone and a neon sign greet visitors, signaling a transition from street to interior. A blue water-effect floor and matching limewash walls create a continuous envelope, while a central counter of backlit corrugated glass blocks is topped with a brushed aluminum light fixture. Three mirrored arches frame the main retail zone, amplifying depth; garments are displayed against silver-toned faux fur, and footwear sits in recessed niches lined with pink and blue velvet. The fitting room features gradient silk curtains and illuminated mirrors, with a Murano glass chandelier as focal point. A lower level, L'Atelier, hosts events with green carpeting and dark wood veneer. Lead architects are Alberto Eltini and Marina Martín; general contractor and furniture fabrication by Nula Studio, with contributions from Kimak, RCR Deco, EGE, HER, Judith San Quintín, Ecotex, Deco & You, and Linum.
