El Cuentacuentos de la Axarquía: New Book by Pepe de Piedad

Pepe de Piedad (José González Núñez) has published a new book titled 'El Cuentacuentos de la Axarquía', which collects legends, chronicles, and tales from the rich narrative heritage of the Levante almeriense region in Spain. The book is centered on the figure of a storyteller from the Axarquía, whose real name is unknown, and who lived in the Tierra de Mojácar area. González Núñez uses this character to present stories that blend reality and fiction, drawing from historical facts and oral tradition. The book includes illustrations by Emilio Sánchez Guillermo, Pedro Soler Valero, Antonio Bujalance, and José Manuel Adrán, as well as photography by Domingo Leiva. It is published by Arráez Editores and promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Mojácar. The book will be presented on Tuesday, August 18, at 20:00 h, at the Centro de Arte La Fuente in Mojácar. The author describes the protagonist as having a rare ability for oral narration, comparing him to alchemists who let memory ferment to produce imagination. The stories aim to convey the truth of the near and known, and while set in a limited territory, they are said to be universal. The book is presented as a text that is enjoyable to read and encourages learning from the past while reflecting on the present.
