Eindhoven to Build World's First 3D-Printed Concrete Houses by 2019
The Eindhoven University of Technology has announced Project Milestone, which aims to complete the world's first residential project based on 3D-printed concrete by 2019. The project involves constructing five houses—four of which are two-story—in the Meerhoven district of Eindhoven. The houses will be built consecutively rather than simultaneously to refine the construction process. The design team includes architecture firm Houben/Van Mierlo, engineering firm Witteveen+Bos, and companies Van Wijnen, Vesteda, and Saint Gobain-Weber Beamix. This announcement follows the recent unveiling of Italy's first 3D-printed house, the 3D HOUSING 05, presented in Milan during Fuorisalone 2018 by CLS architecture studio led by Massimiliano Locatelli, along with Italcementi, Arup, and Cybe Arup.
