Eight Art Books for Summer: From Adrian Piper to Diego Rivera

publication · 2026-05-05

Artribune presents a curated selection of eight art books for summer reading, covering a range of artists and themes. The list includes Adrian Piper's 'Meta arte' (Castelvecchi), a complex booklet by the artist who won the Golden Lion at the 2015 Venice Biennale. Stefano Arienti's 'Fuori registro' (Corraini) is a splendid artist's book produced by Galleria Civica di Modena. Monica Biancardi's 'RiMembra' (Damiani) features mysteriously resonant diptychs animated by verses from Gabriele Frasca. Diego Rivera's autobiography 'La mia arte, la mia vita' (Johan & Levi) offers a revisionist account of his adventurous life between art and politics. Paolo Icaro's 'faredisfarerifarevedere' (Mousse Publishing), curated by Lara Conte and supported by galleries P420 and Massimo Minini, accompanies his 'Foresta metallica' shown at Art Basel Unlimited. Giuseppe Chiari's 'Musica Madre' (Prearo), re-edited and expanded by Giampaolo Prearo, includes a memorable text by Tommaso Trini. Nicolò Degiorgis transforms his childhood notebook into the artist's book 'Heimatkunde' (Rorhof), exploring belonging through relationships with places and people, ahead of an exhibition at Museion. Finally, 'Giorgio Bonomi, Pino Pinelli' (Rubbettino) collects thirty years of writings by critic Bonomi on artist Pinelli, highlighting their enduring partnership.
