Eid al-Adha Prayers Across Southeast Asia Captured in Photo Essay

The Guardian published a photo essay documenting Eid al-Adha prayers across Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Images show large crowds at the Dian al-Mahri Mosque (Golden Dome Mosque) in Depok, the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City, and streets in Jakarta. Aerial drone photos capture worshippers at Ancol beach in Jakarta, the Great Mosque of al-Azhar, and Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh. Other scenes include prayers at Kampung Banda train station in Jakarta, on the slopes of Mount Merapi in Sleman, Yogyakarta, and in Denpasar, Bali. In the Philippines, prayers were held in Quiapo, Manila, and at a park in Quezon City. In Malaysia, two boys wait for their father in Klang, Kuala Lumpur.
