Egypt, Mexico, Australia, and Peru at the 2026 Venice Biennale

At the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, running until November 22, 2026, four national pavilions explore themes of roots, spirituality, and ancestral memory. The Egyptian Pavilion, curated by artist Armen Agop, presents 'Silence Pavilion: Between the Tangible and the Intangible,' featuring contemplative sculptures and paintings that invite silence and meditation. Mexico's pavilion at the Arsenale showcases 'Actos invisibles para sostener el universo' by the RojoNegro collective (María Sosa and Noé Martínez), curated by Jessica Berlanga, a ritual space combining installation, performance, and sound with materials like salt, clay, and tobacco. Australia is represented by Khaled Sabsabi with 'Conference of one’s self,' an immersive installation inspired by the 12th-century Sufi poem 'The Conference of the Birds,' and a second work 'Khalil' at the Arsenale's 'In Minor Keys' exhibition curated by Koyo Kouoh. Peru's pavilion features Sara Flores, the first Indigenous artist to represent the country, with 'From Other Worlds,' a series of large paintings, sculptures, and a video rooted in the Shipibo-Konibo kené visual system. The pavilions emphasize introspection, collective experience, and ecological interdependence.
