Egle Oddo's Performative Habitats Project Spans Multiple Cities
Egle Oddo (Palermo, 1975), an Italian artist based in Finland, has launched Performative Habitats, a project curated by Lori Adragna and supported by the Italian Council program of the Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. The project encompasses exhibitions, actions, events, debates, and lectures across Zagreb, Palermo, Rome, Vienna, Tunis, Mänttä, and Helsinki. Oddo focuses on the intersection of biology, botany, and natural sciences with artistic disciplines to develop new sustainable environmental practices. She creates unusual plant assemblages called 'evolutionary gardens,' which evolve and mutate over time, activated through collective performances that observe interactions among different life forms. The first phase of the project includes the exhibition Cinque Storie Brevi at GMK Gallery in Zagreb, running until December 12, 2020. The overall project continues until September 30, 2021, across various venues.
