EDP Arts Prize Announces 10 Young Brazilian Artists for 7th Edition

award · 2026-04-23

The EDP Arts Prize has selected ten young artists from 456 applicants across Brazil for its seventh edition. Arivanio Alves, Davi de Jesus do Nascimento, Emerson Munduruku – Uyra Sodoma, Érica Storer de Araújo, Felipe Rezende, Gu da Cei, Hariel Revignet, Luana Vitra, Talles Lopes, and Yná Kabe Rodríguez will receive personalized mentorship from the jury to create new works. These will be exhibited at the Instituto Tomie Ohtake, with the opening and announcement of three final prize winners—who will receive international residencies—scheduled for October 1, pending public health guidelines. The jury, comprising artists Arthur Chaves, Dora Longo Bahia, and Elilson, alongside curators Amanda Carneiro and Theo Monteiro, first shortlisted 20 candidates from portfolio reviews before conducting video interviews to finalize the list. The prize is open to artists born or residing in Brazil for at least two years, aged 18 to 29. Beyond the award, the initiative includes a year-long program of courses, lectures, live sessions, and workshops in regions with limited access to contemporary art. In the previous 2018 edition, the international residency winners were Marie Carangi, Elilson, and Iagor João Barbosa Peres.
