Edoardo Tresoldi’s Spectacular 7,000-Sqm Installation for Abu Dhabi Royal Event
Italian artist Edoardo Tresoldi has created a monumental indoor installation in Abu Dhabi for a royal family event attended by 1,900 guests from across the Middle East. The 7,000-square-meter space, developed over three months with Dubai-based Designlab Experience, blends real lush gardens with wire-mesh architectural forms—arches, porticoes, domes, columns—evoking classical and modernist archetypes. Flocks of birds appear to fly through imaginary skies past suspended cubes. The transparent mesh structures recall Tresoldi’s earlier reconstruction of the medieval basilica at Santa Maria di Siponto, Italy. Photographer Roberto Conte documented the project. Some installations will be reinstalled separately at universities, museums, and parks in the UAE capital.
