Edoardo Tresoldi installs 'Simbiosi' at Arte Sella in Trentino

architecture-design · 2026-05-04

Edoardo Tresoldi, born in 1987, returns to Trentino with a site-specific work titled 'Simbiosi' for the Arte Sella art park in Borgo Valsugana. The park, which has hosted projects by artists and architects such as Michele De Lucchi, Ettore Sottsass, Giuliano Mauri, and Eduardo Souto de Moura since 1986, was damaged by severe winter weather but partially rebuilt and reopened in spring 2019. Tresoldi's installation, standing five meters tall, uses both his signature metal mesh and local stone for the first time, enhancing the sense of ruin. The work sits on a hill created by the storm and is meant to gradually merge with the surrounding landscape, embodying the 'symbiosis' of its title. Tresoldi gained international fame for reconstructing the Early Christian Basilica of Siponto in Puglia, and has since created works at Coachella in California, during Milan Fashion Week, and at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris. Arte Sella was founded by a group of friends and residents, evolving in 1989 into an association directed by Emanuele Montibeller.
