Edoardo Purgatori on Theater, Netflix's Baby, and Gabriele Mainetti's Freaks Out

Italian actor Edoardo Purgatori discusses his diverse career spanning theater, television, and film. Known for his early role in the Rai series Un medico in famiglia, Purgatori founded a theater company four or five years ago with La forma dell'acqua. He currently has three plays running in Rome. On November 20, 2018, he debuted at Teatro Belli in Rome with Killology by Gary Owen, a play about a violent video game exploring father-son relationships and contemporary violence. From January 31 to February 17, 2019, he will perform Fuorigioco, a play about a gay footballer, produced with Amnesty International and under the patronage of CONI. In March 2019, he will appear in Loose ends, a generational piece co-created with Iacopo Olmo Antinori, Marina Occhionero, and Ermanno Quaranta. On November 30, 2018, Netflix released the series Baby, directed by Andrea De Sica, in which Purgatori plays the young boyfriend of Isabella Ferrari's character. He also stars in Gabriele Mainetti's second film, Freaks Out, set during World War II, about a band of circus performers. Purgatori plays a cruel Nazi. The film required 26 weeks of shooting.
