Edizioni Brigantino redesigns Coloriage social tailoring lab in Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-26

On October 11, 2024, the social tailoring lab Coloriage in Rome's Trastevere district unveiled a redesign by the artistic duo Edizioni Brigantino (Canedicoda and Valentina Lucchetti). The lab, founded by Valeria Kone and Khassim Diagne, is located at Via della Lungaretta 16, a historic building surrounded by galleries like ADA project, Sant'Andrea de Schapis, and T293, as well as bookshops like Griot and Diorama gallery. The evening event featured a musical performance by the duo Nio (Oumy and Ibrahima Ndiaye) and presented the new autumn-winter collection 'Allers – Retours,' inspired by travel. Workshops for adults and children were held over the weekend. The collaboration with Edizioni Brigantino began in 2023 for a pop-up at Fondazione Sozzani in Milan. The redesign reflects Coloriage's philosophy of inclusive, multicultural fashion. The store and workshop now form a single irregular structure with compartments framing different collection lines and fabrics, centered around a long table for literature on ethical fashion and regular workshops. The collection uses contrasting materials: wool, velvet, denim, and cashmere from Italian textile surplus, combined with West African wax cotton, handwoven fabrics, and hand-painted gauze. Each garment is reversible, genderless, and plays with volumes from oversized bombers to enveloping kimonos and shirts.
