Editions B2 publishes Elisée Reclus's unrealized globe project

publication · 2026-04-23

Editions B2 has released a volume on Elisée Reclus's 'Projet de globe terrestre au 100,000e,' introduced by founder Nikola Jankovic. Reclus, a libertarian geographer and former Communard, conceived an avant-garde representation of the Earth that was never built due to cost and the 1900 Universal Exposition's focus on entertainment over education. The edition is part of a series on architecture and urbanism that also includes 'Nouveaux Ghettos du gotha' on wealthy enclaves since the Second Empire, 'Deauville. La vitrine balnéaire des élégances' and 'Trouville. Palaces, villas et maisons ouvrières' on housing policy from worker housing programs to the Loucheur Law and Wybo's architecture, and a facsimile of Louis Sullivan's 'Form Follows Function' with its translation.
