Edicola 518 in Perugia expands with natural wine bar
Edicola 518, the cultural kiosk and bookstore in Perugia run by the Brizioli brothers, has opened a third space: a wine bar at Corso Cavour 22, directly opposite its existing bookshop. The new venue serves natural wines from Umbria, Italy, and abroad, along with snacks from local producers, aiming to become a neighborhood grocery. The founders, Antonio and Alberto Brizioli, describe it as a "colorful and rebellious" space that extends their concept of a social agora. The wine bar currently has no name, only a "518" sign in the window. Antonio Brizioli, 26, stated that 80% of the wines are natural, selected based on their own taste and advice from Mauro Orsini, who will manage the space. The venture continues the trajectory of Emergenze, the collective and publishing house founded by the brothers nearly a decade ago. Alberto Brizioli emphasized that the expansion is not about conquering space but increasing conviviality and reinvesting in cultural programming for Perugia, aiming to match the level of small European cultural centers.
