Eddie Peake's Nude Football and Four Performances at Volcano Extravaganza

The 2017 Volcano Extravaganza – I Polpi festival, organized with the support of Museo MADRE in Naples, showcased artistic director Eddie Peake, who delivered four performances, including 'To Corpse', which was presented five times in both Naples and Stromboli. The festival opened with 'Gli animali', a reinterpretation of Peake's 2012 work 'Touch', featuring amateur footballers in the nude at Casa Morra. 'To Corpse', created in collaboration with Actress, was performed at MADRE, San Giuseppe a Pontecorvo, and Solfatara, merging elements of body, music, and poetry. Peake also directed 'Fox' (2005) on a ferry route between Naples and Stromboli. Nicoletta Fiorucci, a co-founder, highlighted the festival's inception in 2011, influenced by artists like Marina Abramović. The scientific committee at MADRE now includes Massimo Osanna, Sylvain Bellenger, and Bice Curiger.
