Ed Ruscha donates 30 works to University of Oklahoma museum
Ed Ruscha and his wife Danna have donated 30 works from their private collection to the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma. Thirteen of the pieces are by Ruscha himself, while the remainder are by other prominent artists. The donation reflects Ruscha's personal ties to Oklahoma, where he lived from 1941 to 1956 after moving from Nebraska. The museum previously acquired Ruscha's 1990 painting No Man's Land through a fundraising campaign in 2012. Meanwhile, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles has released a seven-minute documentary about Ruscha titled Every Building on the Sunset Strip (1973), directed by Felipe Lima and narrated by actor Owen Wilson.
