Ed Ruscha Collaborates with Dior for Cruise 2027 Show at LACMA

Jonathan Anderson presented Dior's Cruise 2027 collection at the Peter Zumthor-designed Geffen wing of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The show, set in a film noir atmosphere with vintage cars and moody lighting, paid homage to California noir and Dior's cinematic ties. A highlight was Ed Ruscha's collaboration: he designed several Dior Homme button-down shirts featuring his signature lettering, shadowing, and industrial motifs, including one referencing his 2024 painting 'Says I, to Myself, Says I' and his Gagosian exhibition. Anderson noted that Ruscha's work captures the mundane and grandeur of LA. The collection drew on over a century of film, with drop waists evoking the silent era and vibrant purples and yellows. Floral patterns, especially poppies, were prominent, and garments channeled Marlene Dietrich and Lauren Bacall. Accessories included a glittering ladybug evening bag and an updated Saddle bag. Attendees included Al Pacino, Tracee Ellis Ross, Mikey Madison, Sabrina Carpenter, Anya Taylor-Joy, Bill Pullman, Miley Cyrus, and Grace Gummer.
