Écosystème D: Snøhetta and Santer Vanhoof's Energy-Positive Building in Dunkirk
Écosystème D, an energy-positive building designed by Snøhetta and Santer Vanhoof, opened in 2024 in Dunkirk, France. The 4,400 m² structure houses an incubator, technology hall, training center, and showroom focused on renewable energy innovation. The project, commissioned by SPAD on behalf of the Dunkirk Urban Community, integrates low-impact bioclimatic architecture. Landscape design was by RVB Paysage, with engineering by CET Ingénierie and Impact Ingénierie, and acoustic engineering by Gamba. The building is intended to catalyze energy transition and represents a new urban-industrial dynamic for the Hauts-de-France region.
